A first class monarch in Ogun State, Oba Ebenezer Akintunde Akinyemi, Sunday threw his weight behind Igbo Presidency, insisting that only a Nigerian President from the Igbo extraction would put pay to the insecurity, unrest and agitation going on in the South East.
Oba Akinyemi, the Eselu of Iselu land in Yewa North Local Government Area of the state, noted that the Igbo had been marginalised for too long, arguing that, they should be compensated for the loses they recorded during the civil war with the Presidency, which he said they had never produced before in the history of the country.
The monarch, who disclosed this at a press conference in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital, lamented that the South East part of the country was gradually turning into a war zone and only an Igbo Presidency could resolve the crises.
The traditional ruler called on Nigerians to support the Igbo to achieve their age-long dream by voting for a Nigerian President from Igbo extraction, saying the Igbo has been subjected to injustice, inequality and unfair treatment for too long.
The Monarch called on President Muhammadu Buhari to consider one of the competent Igbo leaders in his cabinet or in the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a successor for the sake of justice and equity.
Oba Akinyemi said: “Mr President, it is my belief that Uour Excellency too sees, hears and feels the tension in our dear country that can be traced to some cry over injustice and inequality from the South-East part of our great country.
“ I want to state without equivocation that the entire security challenges bedeviling this country from the South East will disappear within a twinkle of an eye, if and only if, all sections of this great country can come together to pave way for the emergence of a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction in the year 2023.
