Nigeria Professional Football League stars say the return of televised games will help reduce malpractices in the league and create better opportunities for players to travel abroad for greener pastures.

On Sunday, the League Management Company began the airing of NPFL match-day games on television and a video viewing application that have received rave reviews from football fans around the world since it was launched.
Derbies between Akwa United and Dakkada FC, Enyimba and Abia Warriors as well as the game between Rivers United and Enugu Rangers were televised and also on the app.

With over 3,000 streams from England alone in the match between Enyimba and Abia Warriors live on the app, Lobi Stars goalkeeper, Daniel Atsaka, says players in the indigenous league will gain the needed exposure to the outside world.

“I’m very pleased with the development. The world can now watch us exhibit our talents, this gives us more opportunities for better contracts both in the NPFL and abroad as well as the national team,” Atsaka told ZAMFARAREPORTERS.

“Live viewing also helps the LMC and Nigeria Referees Association monitor referees and know who is doing well or not. So, officiating is fair and the league will now develop more and more.”

Enugu Rangers star, Kevin Itoya said, “It’s a welcome development. It will help to showcase the talents we have in Nigeria. When the league was last aired on Tv, a lot of players travelled out of the country than when there were no TV coverage
