Genocide Against Abians: 4 University Dons Dead, Hundreds of Teachers and Doctors sent to their early graves, 500 Pensioners Gone, How Many More Abians Have to Die Before We Reaalise that Okezie Ikpeazu is on a Kill and Destroy Mission in Abia State?
1. Prof. A. I. Nwabughuogu of History/International Relations Department, Dr D. S. Okoroigwe of Geography/Planning Department and Dr Osince Okike of Political Science.
2. These are the names of very senior lecturers who died in Abia State University Uturu last week due to hunger owing to the refusal of Okezie Ikpeazu, the most incompetent governor of Abia state to pay the staff of the institution their entitlements in over 8 months.
3. In July, Stephen Amaraihu, a lecturer in Abia State College of Education Arochukwu was reported to have slumped and died. He was being owed 30 months salary arrears by the time he passed on.
4. In March this year, several news channels reported that over 500 pensioners have died through preventable sicknesses in tje last few months following the refusal of the Okezie Ikpeazu administration to offset over 30 months pension arrears owed them.
5. Across ministries, parastatals and agencies, thousands of Abia workers are being owed salary arrears of between 20 to 40 months. Some of the most hit are staff of the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, Aba, Hospital Management Board, Primary and Secondary schools teachers, Abia State Polytechnic Aba and several others.
6. It gets more disturbing when one realises that monthly, Abia state pockets over 5 billion naira from external and internal sources. Abia state salary and wages bill is less than 3 billion naira and this is according to a former finance commissioner in the state.
7. Abia state Road networks are amongst the worst in the whole world. Refuse evacuation is a herculean task for this failed governor and across the state, you find mind boggling evidence of decay.
8. Millions of Abia youths are unemployed. They are being brainwashed daily by lunatics and con men who tell them that the reason the refuse heaps in their streets are not evacuated is because a Fulani man is ruling or because Fulani cattle herders are planning to Islamise Igboland. Sadly, so many of them believe this fib. No questions asked.
9. Okezie Ikpeazu likes the distractions. He is enjoying it because it keeps his incompetence away from the public. But we must never be conned. Mr. Ikpeazu is the single greatest misfortune to have befallen any society in Igboland since prehistoric times.
10. We must however not give in to this misfortune. Okezie Ikpeazu is an opportunist and the workers whose colleagues are dying must mobilise to push him out at once. This nonsense has to stop.
11. This genocide against Abia workers must be halted at once. If begins with you.
